Man United are still firmly in the hunt to try and bring Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford.
The Manchester United signing Frenkie de Jong rumours just aren’t going away.
Old Trafford needs at least one new midfielder this summer, with the Dutchman consistently linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams this summer.
Van de Beek’s FC Barcelona career remains up in the air. The Catalan club are in financial ruin. Perhaps it’s the midfielder whose head will be on the chopping block as they need to raise money to fund their summer transfer business.
Catalan media outlet Sport (Thursday print edition), have the latest on the brewing saga, with the translation coming via Sport Witness.
The title of the article claims that ‘United still not give up’ on De Jong, despite the fact the Dutchman’s preference is to remain at the Camp Nou.
According to Sport, new United boss Ten Hag ‘continues to press’ Man United to get the signing of the 25-year-old done this summer. On top of that, the midfielder is the ‘absolute priority’ for the new Reds boss.

It goes without saying, a new midfielder is an absolute must. United have lost Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata. Those bodies need to be replaced.
Van de Beek is an elite-level central midfielder, who would offer us something we haven’t had since the Paul Scholes days. The Dutchman’s ability to take the ball on the half-turn and play it on quickly is something this current United side have been desperate for.
It all comes down to two things; the transfer fee and what sort of competition United would face to get the deal done. If a club with Champions League football on the table comes in for Van de Beek, it’d be pretty easy for his head to turn.
