Man United are still keeping a watchful eye over Bayer Leverkusen right-back, Jeremie Frimpong.
Manchester United are already creating their plans for what is a pretty important summer transfer window. Erik ten Hag will continue to overhaul this playing squad, as he looks to find that perfect balance and push up the league table.
I still believe the Dutchman is the right man for the job, with the dressing room still believing in their boss. We should continue to back him as much as we can, while the club should give him the financial flexibility to have the best chance at success.
One name heavily linked with a United move last summer was right-back Jeremie Frimpong. A move to sign the Dutchman never materialised as other positions were prioritised. However, it’s a player the Reds could look to revisit.
It’s the Manchester Evening News with the latest information on that front. It’s stated that the Reds are continuing to monitor the 23-year-old right-back ahead of the summer transfer window.
United did shortlist Frimpong last summer, though no move materialised. The right-sided defender has only gone from strength to strength since, playing well in a Leverkusen side that hold a five point lead atop the Bundesliga.
At right-back currently, both Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have blown hot and cold since Ten Hag’s arrival as manager, though you always felt the club could upgrade in that area of the pitch.
Frimpong would definitely offer some consistency in that area of the field if signed, though acquiring the ex-Manchester City youngster will not be easy. Leverkusen are under no pressure to sell one of their prized assets. Heck, would Frimpong even want to leave if his side do manage to win the Bundesliga this season?
You’d also imagine United wouldn’t be the only party interested in Frimpong. They would likely face stern competition to sign him.
The MEN article also states that Edmond Tapsoba is being eyed by the Old Trafford club.
