Man United remain in contract talks with Diogo Dalot, with those discussions seemingly progressing nicely.
Manchester United’s future is certainly looking bright under Erik ten Hag, with the Dutch manager getting the absolute maximum out of this squad.
One player whose game seems to have improved endlessly of late is Diogo Dalot. The Portugal right-back was first-choice in his position before injury struck. United have missed him in that time.
Dalot is now back in training, looking to regain his position in the starting line-up. There’s also been some news provided on fresh terms for the man from Portugal.
It’s Mundo Deportivo (in Spanish), with the claim, with thanks to the BBC gossip column for the translation. They say that United’s contract talks with the 23-year-old are at an advanced stage, with new terms looking like being agreed upon in the not-too-distant future.
MD state that this deals a blow to FC Barcelona, who were keen on picking up Dalot on a cheaper deal due to a winding down contract (his current terms expire in 2024).
It always felt like Dalot’s preference was to remain in Manchester and continue progressing under Ten Hag. Now, we’ve had that reaffirmed by a reputable media outlet.
You’d imagine it’s only a matter of time before this deal is made official, as United will want to get it signed, sealed and delivered ahead of the summer transfer window, in order to shut down talks about a potential transfer away for Dalot.
In terms of on the pitch, let’s hope Dalot’s injury problems are now behind him and he can come back stronger over the next week or so. We’re certainly going to need him.
