Man United convinced key midfielder will stay at club this summer: report

Manchester United have done well in regards to getting players to commit to new long-term contracts; but there is still work to be done.

One key squad member who is yet to put pen to paper is Ander Herrera. However, the club have been given a major boost in that regard, with The Metro now reporting that United are convinced the Basque midfielder will stay.

The 29-year-old is out of contract this summer, with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain circling in an effort to acquire Herrera on a free transfer.

Although no significant progress has been made in regards to Herrera signing an extension, it’s positive to learn that the club believe he’ll stay.

That’s probably down to his sheer loyalty. Herrera loves this club and the fans love him. We’re lucky to call him one of our own and at this point, he’s a mightily important player for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Hopefully, both parties can come to some sort of arrangement before this season ends, ensuring that Herrera remains a Red Devil for the next few years at the very least.

It’s just frustrating to watch this club operate in a poor manner, ala Arsenal of years gone by. We need to buck up and keep ahold of our top players as that’s the only way world-class footballers are going to want to make a switch to Old Trafford.
