Manchester United’s summer was quiet but effective. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made three excellent signings while thinning out the squad. Although we’re struggling right now, I think the Baby Faced Assassin will be proved right in the long-term.
With that said, more signings are needed and the January transfer window is now rapidly approaching. The two main areas of concern are midfield and attack, and it seems as though Solskjaer has identified the central player he’d like to make a move for.
According to The Mirror on Sunday, it is being claimed that Manchester United could bid £70m to sign the talented 20-year-old Rice in the January transfer window. That’s what they’re claiming in their headline anyway…
Apparently, though, Rice has admitted he’s happy with the London club at the moment.
Rice’s rise to fame continued with a start for England on Friday night, and although he struggled throughout the game against the Czech Republic, that doesn’t take away from his overall talents.
Sure, United may bid for Rice in the mid-season window, but whether or not they manage to sign him is another matter altogether. I highly doubt that Manuel Pellegrini will be willing to part with a prized asset at that stage. Perhaps a move next summer would be far more likely…
