Man United may well sanction a deal to sell Andreas Pereira for good this month.
Time and time again, Manchester United have made mistakes when it comes to backing the wrong horse. On far too many occasions this club has handed mega-money contracts to fringe players who simply didn’t deserve them.
Perhaps the one player who epitomises that like no other is Andreas Pereira. The Brazilian, who has never really been good enough for the United first-team, was given a fresh long-term deal on big wages. Understandably, the Reds have struggled to sell him on permanently…
A couple of loan moves later and Pereira is still on United’s books. Though those days may (finally) be coming to an end…
The story comes from Bolavip, with the translation coming from the MEN Live Blog. Apparently, Pereira has reached a verbal agreement with Flamengo (where the attacking midfielder is currently enjoying a successful loan spell).
It’s written that Flamengo are discussing a full transfer for Pereira, with it now down to the Old Trafford club. United could well confirm the permanent exit of the 26-year-old this month, the report adds.
For a man who is likely to never play for United again, this is the perfect opportunity to get out from under his wages for good. A move back to his homeland would no doubt help Pereira develop as a player without the pressure of playing for a top European club, too.
The sooner this deal can be reached and the sooner United give the go-ahead for Pereira to leave, the better. It’d then free up money and a potential place in the first-team squad for the 2022/23 campaign.
