Man United could land Moises Caicedo in £80m deal

Man United could land Moises Caicedo in an £80m deal this summer.

Manchester United still seem to be prioritising bringing in a new midfielder of some sort this summer.

Several players have been linked with an Old Trafford switch already. No doubt that list will continue to grow as we approach a huge summer transfer window for the Red Devils.

One name who was rumoured to be a target of United’s is Moises Caicedo. We covered that report earlier this week.

Now, Football Insider have offered us a further update on Caicedo. Apparently, United ‘could land’ their ‘summer target’ in an £80m deal, despite the fact the man from Ecuador recently signed a new contract with Brighton.

Sources close to the 21-year-old have revealed that his new terms will have no bearing on any summer move, meaning talks about his future will no doubt roll on over the summer.

The midfielder is set to field offers from a number of top clubs over the next few months, including United. Top sides have not been put off by this new deal that runs until 2027.

Caicedo has massively impressed since moving to Brighton, while a move could mean that the young man could significantly increase on his current £60,000-a-week wages.

The need to bring in a new midfielder does still remain, particularly if Marcel Sabitzer’s loan isn’t made into a permanent one.

You get the feeling that even despite recent performances, Ten Hag wants to upgrade on the likes of Fred and Scott McTominay, whereas Casemiro and Christian Eriksen will not be around forever.

Caicedo would allow United to get younger in a key position, having a player they can count on for the next decade.
