Man United could make their move for Juventus left-back, Alex Sandro.
Well, I know Alex Telles wasn’t great against AS Roma on Thursday night, but the last thing I was expecting was to see Manchester United linked with a move to sign a different left-back…
The story comes from Tutto Juve, translated by Sport witness, who say the Red Devils could be keen on signing Alex Sandro.
Apparently, United, along with PSG, could ‘make an offer’ to sign the 30-year-old Juventus defender. Sandro has often been linked with a move away from the Old Lady and perhaps now is the time we finally see that transfer come to fruition.
Juventus are willing to sell Sandro, having set an asking price of just under £22m (€25m). It’s thought, though, that £17.5m (€20m) will ‘satisfy’ Juventus and could be enough to get the deal done.
I’ve always liked watching Sandro play for Juventus, but he’s no spring chicken anymore aged 30. Plus, one bad half from Telles doesn’t make our current left-back a bad player.
Personally, I’d rather stick with what we currently have. For the most part, Telles has been a good option in that left-back slot, while he has an excellent relationship with Luke Shaw too.
Why upset that applecart? Sandro will come in, demand regular starts and want out when Shaw continues to play at this incredibly high level.
The only real benefit I can see with this deal is the fact that Sandro is a winner. He’s won multiple major honours at Juve and he’d bring that mentality to United. Again, though, Telles’ trophy cabinet is far from empty, with the left-back having great success at both Galatasaray and Porto.
For now, I can’t see any truth in this one.
