According to L’Equipe, translated by the Daily Mail, United are potentially looking at moving for Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper, Hugo Lloris.
Apparently, United ‘could move for’ the 120-cap France star this summer. Lloris is considered an option for Solskjaer, as doubts over David de Gea’s Old Trafford future continue.
First of all, ‘doubts’ feels a tad strong. De Gea has only missed the last handful of games due to the birth of his first child. You’d expect he’ll be back in the fold in the not too distant future.
This isn’t me knocking Lloris as a goalkeeper, I just don’t think he’s better than De Gea at this point in time. That’s despite mistakes creeping into the Spaniard’s game…
Then you have Dean Henderson, who is arguably the biggest emerging talent in between the sticks across the whole country. He looks calm, assured and in complete control. I don’t get why you’d go out there and hurt his development by signing someone like Lloris.
To me, the fact that United are consistently being linked to goalkeepers leads me to believe that there’s probably some truth in Red Devils interest in signing a goalkeeper.
Why? I don’t know. Unless Solskjaer is sending the media on a wild goose chase…
