Man United could sell 29-year-old for as little as £8.6million: report

Manchester United’s defence needs a major overhaul. The Red Devils have a bunch of sub-par players, some of whom could be moved on this summer.

It feels as though Matteo Darmian has been pushing for an Old Trafford exit for at least a couple of years now, and maybe this time around he may get his wish… The Italian is used sparingly and it’s pretty unfair to see his career winding down slowly without him getting any playing time at all.

Now, reports in Italy from Gazzetta dello Sport translated by Sport Witness, are claiming that Inter Milan are potentially interested in signing the 29-year-old. Apparently, United want €12m (£10.3m) to let the Italy international leave, but they could lower that price to €10m (£8.6m)…

Darmian has been the consummate professional, and although Manchester City’s Danilo is Milan’s first option, the Serie A side would be getting an excellent player if they chose to bring the Red Devils’ Italian right-sided defender back to his homeland.

Sometimes, situations just don’t work out. Darmian needs a fresh start to kick-start his career. Many tend to forget that he was an excellent player during the first few months of his time in Manchester, but after losing confidence in a game against Arsenal, he was unfortunately never able to recover from that.

You don’t just become a bad player overnight, though, and he has put in some pretty good displays for us over the last few years. Hopefully, a deal can get done and Darmian can enjoy the regular game-time that he deserves.
