At Manchester United, things have changed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils are playing an attractive style again. The happiness is there. Jose Mourinho’s dull, boring style is a thing of the past.
For the majority of the squad, this is seen as a huge positive. The superstars are allowed to play with freedom, the shackles are off. However, for some it can only be viewed as a negative.
Marouane Fellaini was once a Mourinho favourite, he was starting most matches and playing pretty well in a certain style. Now, though, he has been rooted to the bench under the Baby Faced Assassin.
As expected, that has led to exit rumours. The latest one comes from Belgium, namely Het Laatste Nieuws, translated wonderfully by the guys over at
Their story claims that the possibility of United selling 31-year-old Fellaini in the January transfer window hasn’t been ruled out, although they won’t let him go cheaply.
This backs up a story from yesterday in which it was claimed that United wouldn’t let Fellaini go for less than £15million, which, in my opinion, is a fair price.
I like Fellaini, he always gives his all. However, he just isn’t a typical United player, and the fans have never really gotten fully on board with him being at the club. With that said, he has been here for over five years now and credit to him for sticking it out for so long.
It does feel like the right time to move him on, however. I’d imagine that whoever the next permanent manager is, they’ll want to take the club in a different, more positive direction. I’d be surprised if Fellaini is a part of the club’s long-term plans.
