I think it’s fair to say that Fred has been a massive disappointment since moving to Manchester United last summer.
Don’t forget that the midfielder was Jose Mourinho’s only marquee signing twelve months ago – although I’m not sure that was the self-proclaimed Special One’s choice…
Anyway, the 26-year-old struggled to force his way into the starting line-up with any regularity last term, featuring in 17 league games, of which 13 were starts.
Now, Italian media outlet Il Romanista, translatde via Sport Witness, claim that Fred has emerged as a target for Serie A giants AS Roma. Apparently, their new manager Paulo Fonesca wants to strengthen their midfield, and he’s eyed Fred – a player who he worked with for two years at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Il Romanista’s story adds that Fred was unhappy with how his first season in England went down, and the Brazil international would ‘not put his foot down’ in regards to a move. Heck, you can hardly blame him for being open to a switch because things certainly didn’t go according to plan.
To add to the report, TMW weigh in and state that any deal for Fred could either be a straight sale or a loan deal with a right of redemption…
