Manchester United Football Club could lad a marquee free agent signing next summer, according to the Manchester Evening News. The man in question is Arsenal midfielder, Aaron Ramsey.
The Welshman has been told that no new contract will be offered, with Ramsey set to walk away from The Emirates after spending almost a decade with Arsenal. Apparently, he wanted a huge wage increase on his current £110,000-a-week earnings. Obviously, the club weren’t willing to give in to his demands.
No doubt a whole host of clubs will be in the running to sign Ramsey when the transfer market opens, but at this point, overseas clubs do have an advantage as they’ll be able to talk to the player when January rolls around. If he wants to stay in England, however, United will no doubt be at the front of the queue.
We all know that The Glazers and Edward Woodward love a bargain. Bringing in a Premier League proven player for free will be a hugely attractive proposition for them, particularly one who, at age 27, is right at the peak of his powers.
It’d give the Red Devils another option in an area of the field in which they’ve struggled with recently, so for me, this feels like a no-brainer.
