Manchester United Football Club need help in numerous positions – not least up front following Marcus Rashford’s injury.
Right now, the only two senior forwards are Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood. United are competing in four different competitions, that’s just not enough.
One name that has recently been linked with an Old Trafford switch recently is Islam Slimani. We covered that report via Sky Sports News here.
Anyway yesterday, France Football have offered us an update on his future. Apparently, United are ‘courting’ the 31-year-old forward – with the striker wanting to leave his current club, AS Monaco, during the January transfer window.
Slimani is currently on loan from Leicester, though despite a strong start to the season in France, relationships have recently broken down.
The veteran forward wants to join a club where he’d be ‘desired’ with United facing competition from Tottenham Hotspur to sign the man from Algeria.
Honestly, I’m still not convinced about this one. Don’t get me wrong, Slimani has a proven track record with sticking the ball in the back of the net, but is he really United quality?
I guess Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hands are forced in the regard that we’re not sure if Rashford will play again this season. Needs-must and all that, so I guess Islam Slimani will have to do…
