Man United dealt blow in Michael Olise pursuit as club agree personal terms with winger

Man United are way behind in the race to sign Michael Olise, with a deal for the winger now looking improbable.

Manchester United are looking to upgrade the playing squad this summer, though I think it’s safe to say any transfer dealings are on hold until Erik ten Hag’s future is clearer.

With the European Championships taking place this week, it’s likely to remain pretty quiet on the incoming front for the next few weeks.

One man who the club have been heavily linked with already is Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace winger finished the season in excellent form, attracting interest aplenty as a result.

However, United have been dealt a blow in pursuit of the 22-year-old winger, with Give Me Sport confirming that the player has agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

The Stamford Bridge club will now discuss release clause payments with Crystal Palace, as they edge closer to signing the right-winger this summer.

GMS state that United are ‘still keen’ on Olise, adding that the Reds could yet present an offer to sign the attacker, as a deal to Chelsea isn’t really ‘close’ at this stage.

Despite that, it does feel like United are way behind in the race. This is where Ten Hag’s future being unclear is a real problem. The club are not going to push on with signings until they know exactly what’s going on with the manager. By that point, Olise, and other possible transfer targets, could be long gone.

The word on the street is that Olise is actually a United fan, so you’d like to think that if the Reds pushed hard to sign Olise, they’d have an excellent chance at getting a deal done.

Do you think Man United should have pushed harder to sign Michael Olise? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
