Man United dealt Casemiro injury blow ahead of huge Liverpool FA Cup game

Man United have been potentially hit with a late injury blow, with Casemiro seemingly suffering a problem.

Manchester United’s season has been defined by injuries. Although Erik ten Hag is keen not to use it as an excuse, it’s purely factual.

The depleted Red Devils take on Liverpool today, in an FA Cup game that could potentially end their trophy hopes for the season with a loss.

Ahead of the game, United have been dealt a late injury blow, with Casemiro seemingly suffering a problem.

According to The Sunday Mirror, Casemiro has pulled out of Brazil international duty with an injury, suggesting he has picked up a problem and he will miss the match today.

Brazil have stated that Case will miss their upcoming two games, casting serious doubt about the midfielder’s availability for the FA Cup clash at Old Trafford this afternoon.

The affected area is unclear at this stage, while there’s still a chance that this was a tactical pull-out. However, I feel fairly certain we will not see Casemiro involved this afternoon, which is a massive loss.

First and foremost, it means Kobbie Mainoo will likely play in a deeper role, thrusting either Scott McTominay or Christian Eriksen into the starting line-up. Neither fill me with confidence in these massive games. It’s almost certainly too soon for Mason Mount to start, although he will be in the match-day squad this afternoon.

I know Casemiro hasn’t been at his best this term, but United are a better side with him in it. Hopefully, this problem isn’t a lengthy one as we’re going to need him for the end of season run-in.

Who do you think will start in the defensive midfield position if Casemiro is injured? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
