Manchester United Football Club take on Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, as the Red Devils look to get back to winning ways after a tough loss against Crystal Palace.

The game itself will be a real test of Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s mettle. Does he stick or twist in terms of team selection?

Well, two players he won’t be able to utilise are Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw; both of whom picked up injuries in the aforementioned 1-0 loss to Palace.

The official Man United website confirmed the double injury blow, as both players will miss the Southampton game through their respective problems…

Shaw has a hamstring problem and those usually need at least a few weeks to heal, while it’s not clear what Martial is suffering from at this point in time.

For the Reds, the injuries are starting to mount. Eric Bailly is missing as is Diogo Dalot. Who plays at left-back this weekend? For me, it’s likely to be Ashley Young while Jesse Lingard or Juan Mata will fill in for Martial.

The one saving grace is that there’s now an international break following the Southampton game – giving United some time to get their players back before the serious stuff starts up again…
