Manchester United’s squad is in need of a huge overhaul. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer probably has a bigger job on his hands than he realised.

Players need to be bought while others have to leave. That’s just the nature of the business. The next name to be linked with a potential Old Trafford exit is Eric Bailly.

In an exclusive from The Sun, it is now being reported that the Ivory Coast international is ready to move on from United after a season plagued by injuries while also falling down the pecking order.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old has emerged as a shock £35million target for Real Madrid. Apparently, Los Blancos have Bailly on a list of ‘first tier’ options, after United beat them to sign Bailly when he left Villareal in 2016.

It’s probably the La Liga experience which makes him a desirable target for Zinedine Zidane and there’s no doubting Bailly’s ability.

I stand by the fact that he’s our best defender. However, confidence is low and he’s fallen out of favour. That’s all down to the aforementioned injuries, and although it’d be a blow to see him leave, it would make sense.

Personally I’d prefer to see the likes of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones depart from the Theatre of Dreams first, but it seems as though Bailly’s already had enough; which is understandable…
