Manchester United’s Demetri Mitchell has suffered a season-ending knee injury, according to Sky Sports News.
The young left-back, who made his first-team debut last season, had been impressing out on loan while at Hearts in Scotland. However, the Englishman has now returned back to Old Trafford after suffering the huge injury blow.
Knee injuries aren’t to be messed with, and if ligament damage has been done then we may not see Mitchell again in 2018. It’s best that he’s returned to Manchester so he can be treated, but it’s a bitter pill to swallow for both the player and Hearts.
Mitchell was beginning to make a real name for himself in the Scottish Premier League, and playing regular football would have only been good for his development as a player.
It’s now vital that he doesn’t lose morale and confidence, because Jose Mourinho clearly believes in his abilities, and if he’s fit there is no doubt that he’ll be aboard the plane for United’s pre-season tour over the summer.
We send our best wishes to Mitchell and hope his recovery goes well.
