United defender targeted for sensational £35million Premier League move this summer: report

Last summer, Manchester United made Victor Lindelof their new centre-back, signing the Ice Man from SL Benfica.

Now, though, the Swede is being targeted by Everton boss Marco Silva. That’s according to The Mirror, per talkSPORT.

Apparently, the Toffees’ new manager wants to sign Lindelof in a £35million deal; just twelve months after Jose Mourinho signed him.

After making two costly mistakes against Huddersfield last September, the 23-year-old only ended up playing in thirteen Premier League games during his debut season. In those fixtures, he didn’t really stand out.

With that said, I’d still have him in front of Phil Jones in the pecking order, and I’d be disappointed if the Englishman got another opportunity rather than his Swedish counterpart.

Everton would be an obvious step down, whereas the increased playing time would certainly be beneficial to him. Perhaps a twelve-month loan deal may be the way to go.

Before the turn of the year, Lindelof discussed his lack of minutes. Although the situation did improve in 2018, he’s probably still adjusting and adapting to the English game.

Personally, I’d love to see Lindelof given one more season. He’s still an excellent footballer with potential aplenty and if he gets a good pre-season under his belt, the centre-back can enter 2018/19 with bags of confidence and cement his place within Mourinho’s side.
