Odion Ighalo has been nothing short of sensational during his short stint at Manchester United, though he doesn’t feel like the long-term solution.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned this squad into a younger, hungrier, more determined one and it looks as though he’s trying to move in that direction when he adds another striker to the squad, too…
The story comes from yesterday’s Express online, who cite a report from Sport in Spain. We’ve done some trawling across the web and can’t find a digital copy of said article, so we’re assuming it was in yesterday’s printed edition of Sport.
Anyway, they state that United are amongst the clubs interested in Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, though PSG and Barcelona are also in the mix.
Furthermore, United are ‘trying to convince’ the 22-year-old forward to join them as Solskjaer remains ‘desperate’to add a striker to the squad for next season.
Apparently, United are ready to offer the Argentine a ‘huge contract’ to make the move to Manchester, though I’d urge the Reds to tread carefully.
Offering big-money deals to players hasn’t really worked out recently. See both Angel di Maria and Alexis Sanchez as proof of that.
Personally, I’m liking the way United are heading. Solskjaer has only moved for players who actually want to play for the badge as opposed to going after the worldwide renowned players who are after a big payday. If Martinez wants to be here then yes, go get him. If not, approach with caution…
