Man United have identified that Sofyan Amrabat has a minor back injury during his medical.
Manchester United Football Club absolutely had to bring in a midfielder on deadline day. There was no getting away from that fact.
The Old Trafford side have looked pretty shocking in that area of the pitch this season, albeit things looked a little better against Arsenal.
Sofyan Amrabat was the name linked with filling that void. Eventually, the man from Morocco would seal a dream move to Manchester. Earlier today, it was revealed that he’d wear the number four at his new club.
Now, The Athletic (per talkSPORT) have added some extra details about Amrabat. Upon conducting his medical, United detect that their new signing has a ‘minor’ back injury – something which he has been dealing with for the better part of a year.
The issue hampered Amrabat during the World Cup, with the player having to take painkilling injections to feature in a knockout game. He was unable to move the day prior.
Obviously, United haven’t deemed the injury serious enough to pull the plug on the deal, which should have us all breathing a little easier about this news.
The last thing United need is to bring in another injured player. There’s no way they would have signed off on positive medical tests if they thought this problem would hinder him over the course of the campaign.
Now, it’s just about getting Amrabat out on the pitch. The midfielder has all the ability in the world and stylistically, he’s the perfect fit. I’m super excited to see how he gets on, with a real chance of Amrabat starting against Brighton in our very next game.
