Man United are looking likely to make their move for Ruben Neves this month.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a thing of the past, while the squad the Baby Faced Assassin has left behind is full of whinge-bags and quitters.
Sadly, several corners of that dressing room are already starting to turn on Ralf Rangnick, which is a massive shame given the German has barely had the chance to implement his tactics and style.
One area that remains a major concern on the field is the middle of the park. The inconsistency in that area is a major issue. If our midfielders play well, we tend to win. When they’re struggling, the whole team looks like an absolute mess.
Which is why a story we covered yesterday from TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook made perfect sense. It was written that interest was building in the Portugual international – including from the Red half of Manchester.
Now, The Sun have offered further information in regards to this brewing transfer saga. They make a bold claim.
Apparently, United are ‘determined’ to sign the 24-year-old Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder this month. It’s written that United have been mulling over a potential Neves bid since the summer, while now it seems like the 20-time Premier League champions are ready to pull the trigger.
The Sun understand that United could make an offer of around £35million to lure Neves to the Theatre of Dreams. However, it’s also stated that Wolves want in excess of £40million to let their key man depart.
Neves is happy at Wolves, but he’s unlikely to sign a new deal at Molineux as he eyes the ‘next stage in his development’ as a player.
The Wolves man has been instrumental over the last three-and-a-half years in the Premier League, while that experience in England’s top-flight means he could slot right into the United team seamlessly.
Neves would bring a calmness, an on-ball quality and a game-controlling style of play to a midfield that desperately needs a little bit of help in that regard.
I’d love for this deal to happen, though I’d imagine United will probably have to sell before they buy…
