Man United are keen on signing Victor Osimhen, though they do not want to pay huge money to get him…
Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer here. His place in the Manchester United dressing room needs filling.
Cody Gakpo seems like a genuine possibility. Perhaps as early as January. Though United are doing their due diligence and continuing to weigh up other options, too.
Enter, Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian is improving year-on-year at Napoli. He’s now starting to fulfil that world-beating talent which he obviously possesses. The attacker was always likely to carry a rather large transfer fee as a result.
Now, journalist Florian Plettenberg has given us the latest news on Osimhen’s future. He says that the 23-year-old is still viewed as a top target for United.
However, United do not want to pay a ‘crazy price’ to sign Osimhen. The player right now is ready for the Premier League, though that £86m (€100m) price tag may prove to be a stumbling block.
Check out Florian Plettenberg’s tweet on the Osimhen news here:
As Plettenberg states, Erik ten Hag would work wonders with a player like Osimhen who possesses great speed, is physical and is a great finisher. Aged just 23, Osimhen is only going to continue to improve, too.
Immediately, I’d assume United have zero chance at getting this deal done in the mid-season window. It’s one that would have to happen in the summer.
It all depends on whether United want to bring in Gakpo and someone else. Or just one new attacker. I’d hope for two as the Reds were already somewhat thin in that area of the pitch before Ronnie left. Gakpo and Osimhen being brought in would represent major change in a key area of the field.
