Man United are missing a couple of first-teamers for the game vs Nottingham Forest due to illness…

Manchester United Football Club play their first Premier League game in about a month-and-a-half this evening, with the Red Devils looking to get one over on Nottingham Forest.

The newly-promoted side, fronted by Jesse Lingard, will no doubt provide a stern test for Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff.

This a game that United simply have to win if they’re serious about qualifying for the Champions League. At home, against potential relegation candidates, you have no choice but to secure all three points.

Anyway, the game has been made harder with an illness running through the camp. As a result, a United duo will be missing from the squad for this game; both Scott McTominay and Victor Lindelof are absent with the flu, while Harry Maguire is only fit enough for the bench due to the same bug.

Check out @RobDawsonESPN’s tweet on the matter here:

United were already struggling at centre-back due to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez participating in the World Cup. This now means Luke Shaw will play at centre-back tonight which is obviously far from ideal.

Lindelof is someone I truly believe can enjoy success under this manager. The Swede, although not first choice, feels like an excellent stylistic fit for this system. I’d choose him over someone like Maguire, for instance.

As for McTominay, he’s another one who could’ve possibly been in line to start here. At the very least, the Scotland international would have made the substitutes bench.

Hopefully, the illness isn’t anything too serious and these guys are back available for selection when United take on Wolves this coming weekend.
