Man United duo named in BBC Team of the Week after Liverpool draw

A couple of Man United players have been named in the latest BBC Team of the Week, following the Reds’ 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

Well, we’re all feeling a little more positive than we thought we would this morning. Manchester United are far from perfect, though the effort was there yesterday – and that’s all we ask for as fans. A 0-0 draw was a decent result all things considered, against a side that had a 100% win record at Anfield in the league this term.

Erik ten Hag’s side set up with a defence-first mentality, looking to hit their opponents on the counter. Although chances came at a premium, Liverpool never really looked like scoring and it was a worthy point for our lads.

For thief efforts, a couple of players were named in the latest BBC Team of the Week. Both Andre Onana and Diogo Dalot were included, despite the latter’s late sending-off.

Onana was excellent, although he’s far too comfortable and cool with the ball at feet for my liking. He made some decent saves to preserve his clean sheet, while his distribution was excellent at times, too.

The man from Cameroon is proving his worth, particularly domestically, and it’s easy to see why Ten Hag chose him as the man to play in between the sticks for possibly the next decade.

Dalot did see red, though it was Michael Oliver trying to make himself the centre of attention as per usual. It was some poor decision-making by the man in the middle, putting a dampener on a very decent Dalot display.

The man from Portugal has come in for criticism of late, from myself and others, though he deserves all the plaudits heading his way after a pretty solid individual outing at one of the toughest grounds within the sport.
