A key Man United duo have been named in the Europa League Team of the Round following a big 4-0 victory over Real Sociedad.
Well, the second leg certainly wasn’t vintage Manchester United, though in the end, our Red Devils got the job done in a comfortable manner.
All the hard graft was done away from home which allowed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer plenty of wiggle room in the way of team selection. Although he’d go stronger than all of us thought, it was perhaps a wise decision against a Real Sociedad side who shouldn’t be underestimated.
Now, it’s time to look ahead to what’ll undoubtedly be a tricky last sixteen tie. Before then, though, a pair of Reds have been named in WhoScored’s Team of the Round following their top individual displays.
Check out WhoScored’s Team of the Round here:
First off is Eric Bailly, who scored a decent 7.33 rating over the two legs. He’d keep two clean sheets, while last night, he was probably United’s best player. The Ivorian won tackles, made key blocks, interceptions and headers galore.
It goes without saying, we all think he’s our best centre-half right now. Hopefully, he’s fit enough to play for the season’s remainder. We’re certainly going to need him.
There are no prizes for guessing that Bruno Fernandes was included in the XI. He’d score an 8.03, which is mightily impressive given he was substituted off at half-time last night.
Fernandes’ work was all done in the first leg as he’d score two goals to send the Old Trafford club on their way. The Old Trafford return fixture was still a proud moment for El Magnifico, though, as he’d proudly don the captain’s armband.
Congratulations, lads! Onwards and upwards from here!
