With the domestic season now over for Manchester United, attentions are now firmly fixated on improving the playing squad before the 2019/20 campaign gets underway.
Internationally, though, the show must go on. This summer we’re being treated to the finals of the inaugural UEFA Nations League competition. England have made the final four, they’ll be on their way to Portugal in the not too distant future.
Before that, Gareth Southgate has named his provisional 27-man squad for the finals – including two Red Devils.
Both Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard have been included and I’d be surprised if the pair don’t both make the cut when Southgate names his final 23-man squad for the tournament.
Lingard has always been a firm fan favourite since Southgate took over, while Rashford, although not always a regular starter, has made an impact on the international level whenever called upon.
Personally, I’m surprised that Luke Shaw hasn’t been included. I firmly believe he’s a better option than Danny Rose, but aside from that, United’s English contingent have had a bang-average season.
Hopefully, the lads go out to Portugal, play well and come back to Old Trafford feeling hungry and ready to go for the 2019/20 pre-season in July.
