Man United duo named in WhoScored TOTW for performance vs Newcastle

A pair of Manchester United players were named in the latest WhoScored Team of the Week following some excellent individual performances.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United side managed to stick another three points on the board on Sunday night, as the Red Devils look to show that they’re the best of the rest.

On the whole, it was a pretty decent team performance, with moments of brilliance from key players making all the difference. Bruno Fernandes would steal all the headlines as per usual as he scored again while picking up another assist.

However, it’s a different duo who make the cut in the latest WhoScored Team of the Week

Harry Maguire has snuck into the team with a 7.72 rating, while the second-highest scorer this week was Marcus Rashford with an impressive 8.70. The only player to beat that was Leeds United’s Raphinha.

Check out the WhoScored TOTW in full here:

I’ll admit I’m somewhat surprised at Maguire’s inclusion. It was his poor header that allowed Newcastle United a way back into the game. Aside from that massive mistake, I’d describe the Englishman’s performance as steady. Nothing more, nothing less.

I still maintain the belief that Maguire isn’t the reason why United are conceding so many goals. Rather I’m looking at his partner, Victor Lindelof…

As for Rashford, he set United on their way with a piece of individual genius. Not only that, though, the #10 would be a constant thorn in Newcastle’s side due to his pace, movement and work ethic.

It’s no coincidence that as soon as Rashford is moved out back to the left-wing, we’re starting to see top-quality performances once again. Now, Solskjaer should keep him there rather than moving him back to the right.

Congratulations, fellas!
