Marouane Fellaini is set to sign a new two-year deal at Old Trafford. In doing so, that will see Manchester United end their interest in Marko Arnautovic.
That’s according to Yahoo! Sports, per The Metro, with the Austrian attacker being identified as a potential replacement for Fellaini if he were to leave Manchester this summer.
Arnautovic was linked with a £50million move to join Jose Mourinho, despite the fact that the 28-year-old only joined West Ham less than twelve months ago.
Personally, I would have liked to see Arnautovic at the club instead of Fellaini. We’ve lacked that versatile attacker/midfielder who can slot in seamlessly in numerous positions on the field. Although Mourinho obviously sees the West Ham man as a more central player, there’s no doubt that he’d immediately became our first-choice right-wing option at this point in time.
As for Fellaini, this whole thing is just a joke. How can a club of Manchester United’s stature allow an average player like him to hold them to ransom? Obviously, Mourinho values the 30-year-old far more than the majority of the fans do, but it’s just annoying that he’s going to get a huge pay-rise, even though he’s nothing more than a squad player.
