Manchester United Football Club don’t really seem to be getting anywhere in regards to Jadon Sancho. Enter, Vinicius Junior…
Yep, the Sancho stories are getting a little stale. Alas, we’ve been covering them from the get-go here. Now, a new name has been thrown into the ring.
The story comes from Spain, namely Defensa Central. Thanks to the Daily Mirror for the translation. They’re crediting United with interest in Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
Apparently, United have enquired about the availability of the versatile 20-year-old, who is primarily a left-winger, though he can also play on the right or through the middle. If the deal were to happen, that’d give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer several options.
Furthermore, Vinicius is currently unhappy at being left on the bench during Friday’s recent game against Manchester City.
Completing a deal wouldn’t be straightforward, though, with Vinicius on the radar of Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
Here comes the bad news…
Vinicius is under contract at Real Madrid until 2025. It has also been reported his deal includes a mega £630million release clause. Sure, that’s never going to be met, though it does signal Madrid’s intention to keep him.
The story also claims that Zinedine Zidane has ‘high hopes’ for the Brazilian, thus hinting he’d also like to keep him around.
At least United are doing their due diligence and looking at other options. Vinicius may be even harder to obtain than Sancho, though his talent cannot be denied.
It also forces Dortmund’s hand somewhat. I get the impression that they’re looking to move on from Sancho this summer and if they see United looking elsewhere, it could speed up negotiations.
In the end, you get the impression Sancho is still the ideal target. In the end, I still believe a deal will be done – I just hope it doesn’t drag out too long…
