Man United are now amongst the club’s interested in acquiring Aurelien Tchouameni.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United squad is starting to take shape. Though there’s one glaring weakness that remains – central midfield.
It’s an area the Old Trafford club tried to fix over the summer, though there was just too much work to undertake in one window, meaning one position was going to be a little short.
Well, it goes without saying the Red Devils will be doing all they can to fill that void when the next window opens. Enter, Aurelien Tchouameni.
The AS Monaco starlet is enjoying a rapid rise to prominence. He’s following in the footsteps of Anthony Martial and Kylian Mbappe.
Now, according to The Express, citing Fabrizio Romano on his ‘Here We Go’ podcast. United have entered the race to sign the 21-year-old wonderkid. Though understandably, they’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Chelsea and Juventus.
The midfielder, considered to be ‘one of the finest young talents in France’ played alongside Paul Pogba in the engine room of the Nations League final. He looked every bit as talented as United’s number six, which is obviously high praise indeed.
Who knows, at this stage, there’s every chance Tchouameni is being eyed to replace his Les Bleus midfield partner, given Pogba is yet to commit his long-term future to the Old Trafford club.
I have absolutely no problems with us getting younger in that position. United may well be looking to move away from Pogba due to the circus and drama that follows him around everywhere. Although his talent will be missed, the constant flirting with Real Madrid definitely won’t be.
Obviously, in an ideal world, we’d keep Pogba and sign Tchouameni so the pair can re-enact their international partnership on the domestic stage. Luring the mega-talent to Old Trafford isn’t going to be easy unless we’re winning trophies, though!
