Man United enter race to sign talented 21-year-old winger: report

Manchester United Football Club have themselves a serious right-wing problem. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has bred some life into proceedings, with Jesse Lingard doing pretty well out there, but I don’t think he’s a long-term fix.

The Red Devils have seemingly identified that as the area in which they’d like to strengthen next, with ESPN now reporting that United have joined the race to sign the highly sought-after Cengiz Under.

Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Arsenal are all interested in acquiring the 21-year-old from Turkey, who is having a fine season for AS Roma in the Serie A.

Apparently, though, no deal will happen during the January window, with AS Roma likely to want to keep ahold of Under until the season’s end at the very least. As for United, they’re still unsure as to who the permanent manager would be, and who knows whether the next man up will see Under in their plans.

The Italian giants are asking for around €50m (£45m) if they’re to let the right-winger leave, which for United could be a drop in the ocean. However, they’ll have to act quick to try to steal a march on their rivals – hence why I don’t think this deal will happen due to the aforementioned managerial situation.
