Man United ‘expect’ Cristiano Ronaldo to leave in January

Man United expect Cristiano Ronaldo to leave when the January transfer window opens.

Manchester United Football Club made some great improvements over the summer, during Erik ten Hag’s first transfer window in charge.

To get the absolute maximum out of the dressing room, Ten Hag needs multiple windows to fully overhaul the squad. For that to happen, some players simply have to leave.

One man who has absolutely struggled to start this campaign is Cristiano Ronaldo. The striker hasn’t been anything close to his best this term, even being frozen out completely after walking down the tunnel before one match had ended.

Now, journalist Florian Plettenberg has given us an update in that regard. He says people within Man United ‘expect’ to see the superstar exit the club in the winter window.

On top of that, the search for the successor(s) is already underway, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s name popping up again

Check out @Plettigoal’s tweet on the latest Ronaldo news here:

Anyone who has watched United with regularity this season will be disappointed with the way Ronaldo has played. The Portugal international has been majorly disappointing in multiple aspects. The sensible thing would be to let him leave.

That said, I’m just not sure how many clubs out there can afford to bring Ronaldo in, while also matching his level of ambition. It’s a tricky one…

As much as it makes sense from a United standpoint, it takes two to tango. They’ll be no transfer happening unless a club comes in for Ronnie. That’s not a given at all, particularly when you see how badly he’s played.

A lot can happen between now and January. Who knows, an excellent World Cup from Ronaldo could tempt a potential buyer into making a move?
