Man United believe Facundo Pellistri will be sold before the end of the summer transfer window.
Manchester United Football Club are now looking to trim down the playing squad before making any further signings. The Red Devils need both money and a place in the dressing room for any new additions.
Many expect Scott McTominay to be out of the exit door before the close of play in about two weeks’ time, though another name could also be close to leaving; Facundo Pellistri.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United ‘expect’ that the 22-year-old forward will leave the club this summer.
The man from Uruguay was omitted from the Fulham matchday squad ahead of a probable sale.
Pellistri has plenty of talent and he has displayed flashes of that for United, largely off the substitutes bench.
However, the wide man has failed to break into the starting line-up and with the emergence of Amad, Pellistri has fallen further down the pecking order. There’s only so many loan moves he’s going to be willing to make before he has to consider leaving for good.
A potential move to Greek side Panathinaikos has been talked up somewhat recently and that could be an excellent opportunity for the young man to get his career back on track.
In terms of fee, I’d imagine it’ll be a relatively minimal figure heading United’s way if this sale does happen, though it could be enough to perhaps push a deal to sign Sander Berge over the line. We’ll have to wait and see on that front, though…
