Man United have identified Kingsley Coman as the alternative if they can’t sign Jadon Sancho.
The dream for Manchester United this summer is a move for Jadon Sancho. However, we’ve been here before and failed on more than one occasion. With that in mind, it’s always smart to have another option.
According to SPORT1 journalist Florian Plettenberg, they have a back-up plan in place if they can’t sign Sancho; Kingsley Coman.
Apparently, United are ‘expected’ to bid for the 24-year-old this summer in the event that a move for Sancho becomes an impossibility.
However, this deal for Coman may be difficult to sort out as new Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann wants to keep the Frenchman around. The player himself also wants to extend his contract, though his agents are seemingly pushing for a move.
At this point, I’m sceptical at best that this move will get any further than this current stage of United interest.
The player always has the final say and if he wants to stick around at Bayern, and play for a manager who wants him, then surely Coman can override his agent’s thoughts and stay in Bavaria?
If, somehow, United can push hard and convince Coman to join, then he’d be a considerable upgrade on our current options. This is a player who has won ten league titles in a row at every club he’s been at, which is an absolutely outstanding record.
He’d bring a winning mentality, an elite speed, great finishing ability and an all-round game that not many players can boast. Sure, Sancho is the big dream but signing Coman would not be a bad alternative.
