Man United are expected to enter talks with AS Roma, over a possible Victor Lindelof transfer.
Manchester United Football Club are progressing nicely under Erik ten Hag. The Old Trafford club still have a long way to go in terms of overall development under their new boss.
Perhaps the biggest strides being made are defensively. Suddenly, United have a back line that they can rely upon, which is completely different to the couple of years prior.
One man involved in those struggles was Victor Lindelof. The Swede, who often partnered Harry Maguire, never really looked fully comfortable alongside the Englishman. It’s why the club opted to spend big on Lisandro Martinez.
Well, it seems the Old Trafford club could now look to cash in on the Ice Man, who is yet to play a Premier League game this season.
It’s Italian journalist Rudy Galetti with the claim. He suggests AS Roma are still in the market for a new central defender, despite passing up on the chance to bring in some on free transfers.
On top of that, in the coming weeks, new ‘contacts’ are expected with the agents of 28-year-old Lindelof, over a potential sale in January.
Check out what Rudy Galetti tweeted on the proposed Victor Lindelof transfer here:
Lindelof’s current contract doesn’t expire for a few years yet, so it absolutely makes sense to cash in on the defender while he still has some value.
No transfer fee has been mentioned by Galetti, but United would have been hoping to recoup as much of the £30m that they paid to sign Lindelof when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
I actually don’t think Lindelof is a bad player. Sadly, the partnership between him and Maguire just didn’t really work out. Now, though, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane seem to be the first choice by quite some distance.
A move to AS Roma feels like a good situation for all involved, so let’s hope this transfer can materialise in January.
