Man United have made the first moves over the possible signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Manchester United Football Club have a rather important summer transfer window on the horizon. The Red Devils need help in several areas, though with money tight and INEOS now in charge, it’s going to be intriguing to see how things pan out.
First and foremost, you’d expect sales to be made. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made no bones about the fact that money is being wasted, so letting some players leave to clear the decks somewhat has to be priority number one. Then comes filling those gaps in the squad with real quality.
We’re now gearing up to that portion of the season where the rumours start to ramp up, with United now being linked with multiple names per day. The latest player whose hat has been thrown into the ring is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
It’s 90min.com with the exclusive, as they state that United will now ‘explore’ a move to sign the 25-year-old Championship midfielder, who could be available for a reasonable fee this summer.
Leicester are in the midst of a promotion battle in the Championship, with Dewsbury-Hall potentially to cost around £25m if the Foxes fail to secure a place in next season’s Premier League. That fee could rise to around £40m if they do earn promotion.
The Foxes would prefer to keep Dewsbury-Hall at their club, after his ten goals and twelve assists in the Championship this term.
A central midfielder is expected to become a priority signing for the Old Trafford side, particularly if Casemiro and Christian Eriksen end up leaving. The latter has recently expressed his unhappiness due to lack of playing time.
A move for Dewsbury-Hall strikes me as a proper INEOS signing. A homegrown player at a decent fee with plenty of up side. You know what you’re going to get out of the talented midfielder, who can slot in and do a job as and when required. It could be an astute piece of business, though I’d expect other sides would show an interest in the player before the summer rolls around, particularly if Leicester remain in the Championship.
