Man United have added Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto to their list of transfer targets.
Last summer, signing a right-winger felt like a main goal for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Jadon Sancho was the name on everyone’s lips, although that move wouldn’t get done.
Well, it seems like the Old Trafford club are still looking to strengthen in that department. That’s according to The Sun, who state that signing a right-winger is a ‘top priority for Solskjaer heading into this summer.
The man United now have their eyes on is Wolves’ Pedro Neto. The Sun state in their headline that United are eyeing a ‘shock’ move for the 21-year-old starlet, who would cost £50million+.
Apparently, Neto has moved up United’s shortlist after some impressive displays for Wolves this term, despite Nuno Espirito Santo’s team struggling on the whole.
Neto actually had a trial for United back in 2016, during which the club could have signed the Portuguese for nothing. However, the winger didn’t do enough to convince the Old Trafford outfit to take him on.
Now, Neto is viewed as a genuine alternative to Sancho, who has five goals and seven assists in the Premier League so far this season.
United’s need for a right-winger is still there
Mason Greenwood has done okay out there, while Daniel James has filled in from time-to-time. However, United need that genuinely top-class winger, who can start game-in-game-out and make a difference. It’d also free up Greenwood for more opportunities as the central striker.
Neto has Premier League experience under his belt, while aged just 21, he’s only going to improve. Prising him away from Wolves may be the hardest thing to do here, while the transfer fee may not end up being that much cheaper than what Sancho would cost.
For United, it’s a pretty big decision to make in regards to going for Sancho or Neto. Let’s hope they make the right one.
