Man United eyeing 22-year-old as Marouane Fellaini replacement: report

Manchester United Football Club are preparing to launch a £31million bid to land SL Benfica midfielder Bryan Cristante, according to The Sun, per The Metro.

The 22-year-old is currently spending this season on loan at Atalanta, and he’s been brilliant in front of goal, too, scoring eight goals in eight assists.

Cristante is reportedly being eyed by Jose Mourinho as a long-term replacement for Marouane Fellaini, who’s current contract runs out in the summer.

Fellaini has been in great form at the start of this season, but I think it’s fair to say that the Old Trafford crowd have never really taken a liking to the Belgian, and I doubt many would be that bothered if he left the Theatre of Dreams when his current deal expires.

As for Cristante, he’s a player that I don’t know an awful lot about aside from the fact that he’s Italian. Mourinho is always a meticulous planner when it comes to making moves in the transfer market, so he’d have my full backing once again.

I highly doubt anything will happen in January and this is a deal that is more likely to take place when the season is over, but if you happen to watch any Serie A from now until the end of the year, it may be worth keeping an eye on Cristante.
