Man United eyeing £27million move for Real Madrid midfielder: report

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a £27million move to sign Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid, according to the Daily Mirror, per The Sun.

The brilliant Croatian has struggled to nail down a place in Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid team, and that has seemingly led to speculation about his future possibly being elsewhere.

With Marouane Fellaini yet to sign a contract, and Ander Herrera enduring a poor spell at the moment, a move for a new midfielder to help both Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba out makes perfect sense.

Kovacic is a player who’ll help out on both sides; defence and attack. Not only is he mobile, the 23-year-old is excellent with the ball at his feet and he’d compliment Pogba perfectly.

£27million for a player of Kovacic’s calibre would be an absolute steal if the Red Devils could somehow pull it off. He’s young and his best years are still to come.

Whether or not a deal could be done in January we’re not sure, but United’s squad still needs plenty of work doing to it. Give Mourinho time and he’ll get it right, I’ve no doubt about that.
