Manchester United Football Club have been linked with names aplenty already, ahead of a summer transfer window that doesn’t actually open for another five months.

I guess sticking the Red Devils’ name on stories definitely adds a few extra clicks, so it’s often tough to sift out the paper talk and work out what’s true…

Well, The Guardian are usually spot on when it comes to United transfer stories, and in their rumours column, a new name has been linked with an Old Trafford switch; Kai Havertz.

Apparently, United are eyeing up the mega-talented 20-year-old midfielder, though they won’t be the only ones keen, with Liverpool also showing an interest in the up-and-coming German.

Right now, it’s probably about maximising his value and a bidding war between England’s biggest two clubs is the perfect scenario for them; particularly as United and Liverpool absolutely detest each other.

Havertz would add so much depth to this squad in an area where United badly need it. Yes, the German wouldn’t come cheap, but with Paul Pogba’s future still up in the air, this is something that the 20-time Premier League champions seriously need to explore…
