Man United are eyeing a move for Real Madrid’s Lucas Vasquez.
As we’ve covered over the last couple of days, Manchester United are seemingly looking to add some stiff competition for the right-back slot. Kieran Trippier was named as an option the Old Trafford outfit were considering
After all, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has played all but two of the Red Devils’ games this term, with Brandon Williams deputising in the other couple.
This morning, a new name has been linked with United; Lucas Vasquez. The story comes from Defensa Central, who state that United are eyeing a move for the 29-year-old defender.
Apparently, a £13.5m offer has been ‘alleged’ by the English media, though we cannot find those claims anywhere. More on that later…
Defensa Central state that Vasquez’s performances have ‘caught the attention’ of Solskjaer, who would want him for a ‘future project beyond 20201’.
Vasquez is claimed to be a player who has ‘reinvented himself’ as a right-back. He was once someone who was ridiculed widely by Real Madrid fans and rivals alike, now, he’s carved a real career out for himself at the Santiago Bernabeu.
So why would Real Madrid let him leave?
Well, for Los Blancos it’s decision-time. Vasquez has a contract that expires in just six months and Zinedine Zidane has to decide ‘imminently’ if the Spaniard ‘deserves’ to continue his career with Madrid.
If Zidane decides to move on from Vasquez, this is where Manchester United will ‘appear’ and make their move.
For £13.5m (€15m) it’s a move worth making. Having squad depth is massively important these days, while Vasquez’s experience is another vital asset.
Vasquez is also extremely versatile as he can play higher up the field if required. That’s probably what gives him a slight edge over someone like the aforementioned Trippier.
