Man United eyeing move for Kaoru Mitoma

Man United have eyes on Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma ahead of the summer transfer window.

Due to on-field success, it’s easy to forget that Manchester United are still in a rebuild. Erik ten Hag is still moulding this squad into one that fits his image. Obviously, that takes time.

With the summer window now on the horizon, the club will have eyes all over the globe in order to scope out those players that can improve this dressing room.

Enter, Kaoru Mitoma.

The Japan international has greatly impressed for Brighton & Hove Albion this term since his debut last year. He’s scoring, assisting and causing a genuine threat to Premier League defences.

Now, according to The Sun, United ‘have sent scouts’ to watch the emerging 25-year-old Premier League star, presumably with the summer window in mind.

Mitoma has caught the eye of ‘bigger clubs’ due to recent performances, with Brighton paying just £2.7m to bring in the winger in 2021.

United have had scouts at recent Brighton games, with particular focus on Mitoma, who does look like an excellent footballer. Ten Hag will get to see Mitoma live at Wembley, during the FA Cup semi-final next month.

One thing you have to say is that Brighton deserve immense credit for their recruitment over the last few years. No doubt the Seagulls will stand firm on their asking price, too, which you have to respect.

We’re still unsure as to how much Brighton will demand to let their man-of-the-moment leave, though United better have deep pockets.

There’s no doubt that the Reds still need help out wide, though I do worry whether this would stunt the growth of both Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri.

Do you think a Man United move for Kaoru Mitoma would make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
