Man United eyeing move to sign Everton’s Amadou Onana

Man United have eyes on Everton midfielder, Amadou Onana.

Manchester United’s midfield hasn’t looked the same this season. Perhaps it’s due to injuries. Maybe Casemiro is now getting that little bit older. Possibly it’s due to the fact that United have had no consistency in that area of the field.

Erik ten Hag has steadied the ship somewhat recently, while a 0-0 draw with Liverpool will be good for morale. The arrival of Kobbie Mainoo has also helped, though it’d be unfair to place all that weight on the shoulders of a teenager.

It makes sense, then, to see United linked with a move to bring in a new midfielder – possibly as early as January.

Foot Mercato claim that United have eyes on Amadou Onana, though they’ll face heavy competition from FC Barcelona.

The report states that United are plotting a move to sign the 22-year-old midfielder, who could leave Everton in the January or summer transfer window.

Everton are asking for a fee of around £47-£52m to let their energetic midfielder leave, while Barca have already met the player’s entourage so United are behind in that regard.

Onana has been excellent for Everton this season, while he was outstanding against United in the Premier League game at Goodison Park last term.

There is no doubt that the man from Belgium would prove to be a pivotal asset if a deal is done – though I’d be highly surprised if the Reds make this move happen in January as money will likely be tight until at least the summer.

Let’s hope that Everton keeps ahold of Onana until the end of the season, giving us a chance to win this transfer battle.
