Man United eyeing Spanish right-back as Antonio Valencia replacement: report

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keeping tabs on Alvaro Odriozola, with the self-proclaimed Special One viewing the Spaniard as long-term replacement for Antonio Valencia.

That’s according to the Birmingham Mail, with the Real Sociedad star also being watched by both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

With the Red Devils reportedly looking to offload Matteo Darmian, Mourinho is clearly after another option in that area of the field, with a clear view to Odriozola taking over when Valencia either moves on or hangs up his boots for good.

The fact that both Madrid and Barcelona are watching Odriozola tells you everything you need to know about this boy’s talents. He’s already got a couple of Spain caps under his belt as well…

My main concern is that if either of the Spanish giants backed up their interest with an official bid, he’d probably prefer o stay in his homeland rather than moving to England.

With that said, United should do all they can to try and persuade Odriozola to move to Old Trafford. Valencia has been brilliant for us, but he’s approaching his latter stages of a glittering career and it’s always best to be prepared when the inevitable comes around…
