Man United ‘eyeing up’ move to sign Takefusa Kubo as replacement for Antony

Man United have eyes on Takefusa Kubo, as a possible replacement for the struggling Antony.

Manchester United are not getting much production in the final third right now. Rasmus Hojlund has no league goals, though the lack of service he’s getting is quite alarming.

Marcus Rashford is in a poor run of form, while Antony continues to struggle. The only real production we’ve had from out wide is Alejandro Garnacho, and even that comes in fits and spurts.

The Sun believe United are now looking at spending some money in the wide areas in order to improve their output. According to their report, Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo is on the radar, as a potential replacement for the aforementioned Antony.

According to their sources, United are ‘eyeing up’ the 22-year-old La Liga winger, with the Reds having sent scouts to watch him on at least 7 occasions this term.

Kubo has spent time in the academy of both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid already. That alone should tell you about his natural ability. A lack of playing time for both clubs eventually led to a move to Real Sociedad, where he is thriving.

It seems all Kubo needed was a move to a club that would allow him to play regularly and showcase his talents. Inevitably as a result, the bigger sides are now coming knocking again, for a man who only cost Sociedad £5.5m.

United need someone who is a throwback to the Reds’ teams of old. Pure pace, cutting to the byline and delivering service to a striker. Kubo is exactly that.

I’d be surprised if a January move is even being considered as money is tight right now, but if Kubo keeps impressing until the end of the summer, this is the sort of deal that would make sense.
