Manchester United’s need to sign at least one quality midfielder is there for all to see. Just a few days ago, we covered a story from the Daily Mail in which it was claimed that the Red Devils were interested in a summer move for Todd Cantwell.
Today, that has been backed up by the ever-reliable David Ornstein. The journalist, while speaking on his podcast alongside Mark Chapman, confirmed that United are still interested in a summer move for the 21-year-old midfielder; though they’ll face stiff competition.
Apparently, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City are all keen on making their move for the up-and-comer come June.
Cantwell is a hidden gem who genuinely has come out of nowhere. After not really featuring as a regular starter in Norwich City’s Championship promotion campaign, the Englishman has really kicked it up a notch during this season. Right now, he’s undroppable.
You can see why the so-called big-boys have shown serious interest in Cantwell and you’d expect he’d only get better playing with a higher quality of footballer. However, Norwich aren’t going to want to lose a key member of their squad in a season where they’re trying to ensure their status as a top-flight club – hence the summer move.
