Man United facing stiff competition from rivals in pursuit of world-class centre-half: report

Manchester United will reportedly face stiff competition to sign Jerome Boateng this summer, should the Red Devils make their move.

That’s according to the Daily Mirror transfer spy, who says that Jose Mourinho is looking to upgrade his defensive options – although Manchester City and Pep Guardiola could be ready to do similar.

Boateng, now 29,  has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, with United told the German’s signature would cost them £50million – which, in this day and age, isn’t too bad…

With Eric Bailly spending large portions of last season injured, United certainly need some reinforcements at the heart of defence. Boateng would be an excellent start and his veteran leadership would immediately turn the Red Devils into a better team. At this point, we need all the help we can get if we’re to overturn City in 2018/19…
