Manchester United fan favourite Juan Mata has been linked with a stunning move to FC Barcelona.
That’s according to Bleacher Report, per Sport English. They say that the Catalan giants are exploring the possibility of signing the 30-year-old, and talks could accelerate over the coming weeks.
Mata made 23 Premier League starts for the Red Devils this term, which isn’t bad considering how much rotation manager Jose Mourinho did throughout the course of the campaign. However, you do get the feeling that his talent deserves more minutes.
Everyone loves the Spaniard. From minute one, his loveable personality made him a huge hit with the Old Trafford faithful; and that’s probably what we’ll miss the most if he did go.
Let’s be honest, when we signed him from Chelsea, I think it’s fair to say we expected better. Sure, he’s done alright, but he’s hardly jumped off the page – particularly in the big matches.
At this point in time, I can certainly understand the logic in this deal going through. Mata would be heading back to his homeland, United would get a decent transfer fee for him and Barcelona will be getting a cracking player who fits their system down to a T. It would be a shame to see him leave, but it does make sense.
